“I’ve known Erin for a while but I knew I needed her the day after I got a diagnosis for an immune condition that made it very difficult to teach; the career I put two degrees and 8 years into. It was very difficult to imagine that I could do anything else or that I could be seen as a valuable or adequate job in any other field, until I started life coaching with Aligned Insight Coaching. I knew Erin was the right person specifically because of the range and variety of professions she has had during the years. I had never met anyone with a resume as eclectic!

We worked on standard things like career counseling, resumes, professional media profiles, websites, but most of the care I’ve received from her was more profound and life-changing. It was clear to me that this was not just a form of rehabilitation for my professional career, but I was receiving care from a person who could see some of the beliefs and virtues I held that were holding me back and, instead, could challenge me to use them to my advantage. One of my biggest takeaways from her was that a brighter future requires being kind to my future self through daily, weekly, and monthly gestures. Our earliest work was centered on building better self-maintenance habits as a result. I also learned that by choosing a different career, I’m not choosing for every problem to get resolved, but rather choosing a different set of problems and assessing which I can deal with better. This helped break me out of my limerence for different job and career situations, as I had been in the pattern of making my future a fantastical idea to keep myself safe from the idea of change. I couldn’t imagine the person I would be now if Erin had not just witnessed that epiphany, but also helped me put that into action.

I am now in a remote speech-therapy adjacent role and am building a side business for custom clothing design. I’ve only just gotten started career-wise, but now I have even more ideas about other things I can do professionally. There’s a world of possibilities for me as a person who is talented at so many things. It is all due to Erin that I can look at my future and see the doors that are open instead of the ones that are closed.
